GO WILD CATS!
Hello Old Post families and friends, I am very excited for another great year of teaching Art at Old Post Elementary. I am also the traveling art teacher at Lakewood Creek this year. I started teaching in 2007, and been an elementary art teacher in SD308 since 2012. I am so thankful for the opportunity to inspire your children and guide them in their creative journey. Thank you for supporting and encouraging them to open their minds to new things and try their best in art class!

ART PHILOSOPHY
Growing up I always loved art, but never had the experiences kids have today in the art room. This is one reason I love teaching art at the elementary level. Art gave me an outlet to be creative and I was able to use it as a tool to help me succeed in school. I love everything from painting, drawing, printmaking, textiles, sculpting, photography, realistic art to abstract art. I believe that all students I teach in the elementary level will have the opportunity to experience as many mediums as possible. I believe that creativity and self discovery is an important part of the learning process as well as looking at details and developing fine motor skills to help all students successfully express their thoughts through their artworks. I teach my students that art is an important part of life and that it is everywhere. Art is history, art is science, art is math and language arts, art is expression and self reflection. Many of our art lessons tie into cross curricular learning and students will learn about the world through multicultural lessons.
